There's always something exciting going on at the Brewery. See what we've been up to recently.

S.A. Brain helps raise £75,000

Since launching a partnership with Tenovus Cancer Care in 2015 the S.A. Brain group, which includes Coffee#1, has raised more than £75,000 to help the charity support cancer patients and their loved ones.

Tenovus Cancer Care, S.A. Brain and WalesOnline joined forces for the 2015 Rugby World Cup and Euro 2016, offering wristbands to support the national teams which raised a combined total of more than £8,000.

Pubs and coffee shops have been continuously raising money through collection tins and customer donations, and hundreds of employees from across the business have taken part in fundraising activities. So far they’ve completed the Welsh Three Peaks in 24 hours, and 120 employees have completed the Cardiff 10k over the last two years, raising over £16,000 from these challenges alone.

S.A. Brain has arranged special tours of the Brains Brewery to help raise funds, as well as creating one-off beers such as the Marathon Man to raise funds as part of the sponsorship for staff who bravely took on the London Marathon.

Jon Bridge, Group Head of People for S.A. Brain, commented: “We are delighted to have helped raise in excess of £75,000 for Tenovus since becoming an official charity partner.

“Our staff have enjoyed coming up with exciting ways to raise money, from bungee jumping and zip wires to running the Cardiff Half Marathon, and it’s down to their hard work and enthusiasm we’ve achieved such a fantastic amount.

“We look forward to raising even more money for this great cause.”

There are lots of exciting plans going forward for the charity partnership. This October, S.A. Brain pubs and Coffee#1 shops are ‘Going Pink’ for Breast Cancer Awareness Month and hosting a number of creative pink-inspired events.

Claudia McVie, Tenovus Cancer Care Chief Executive said: “This partnership with S.A. Brain and Coffee#1 really is remarkable and we’re so grateful for their support. We have been overwhelmed by the amount raised so far and so impressed by the determination of the whole team to help people affected by cancer. The funds that have been raised will continue to help cancer patients and their loved ones when they need it most.”
