The Wellington Hotel, in the heart of Brecon, is set to reopen this week after an extensive refurbishment costing more than £1m.
S.A. Brain and Co Ltd have completed their largest renovation project outside of Cardiff this year, with in excess of £1.1m having been spent to transform the historic Wellington Hotel.
Former Brecon RFC hooker and Rio 2016 Paralympian Rob Davies and mayor of Brecon, Mrs Rosemary Evans, will attend an event to mark the reopening on the evening of Wednesday 7 December.
Manager Elton Borge said: “The place looks great. The Wellington is at the very heart of life in Brecon so the closure and refurbishment has been a real talking point in the town.
“Brecon already has a bustling centre and we think the new-look Wellington will provide another welcomed boost for the town.
“We’ve already created 20 new jobs through the redevelopment and have a number of local entertainment acts booked to feature at the hotel over the coming months.”
The Wellington now boasts a new function room for 110 people on the site of a former nightclub on the premises, with bespoke wedding packages being offered for the first time. There is also a separate bar and dining room for special occasions.
Six additional bedrooms have also been created and all rooms now have top-of-the-range Hypnos beds and new 42-inch televisions.
A full internal and external redecoration has taken place which includes a new meeting room, a new kitchen and a cycling and walking equipment storage room for those using the hotel while exploring the Brecon Beacons.
Gareth Roberts, Operations Manager at Brains, said: “We are finishing 2016 with one of our biggest projects of the year and are delighted with the results of the renovation.
“The new bespoke function room will allow the Wellington Hotel to host a wide range of events, from weddings to stand-up comedy nights, and the stunning new bedrooms are perfect for visitors to the Brecon Beacons.
“We would like to wish Elton and his new team the best of luck for the reopening.”
A new menu sees the introduction of some fantastic dishes, including a Mexican style double chicken burger, minted lamb shank, leek and blue cheese risotto and indulgent chocolate profiterole gateaux. There’s also a stunning sharing banoffee cookie which is predicted to be a big hit.
There are a range of offers throughout the working week with Burger Night on a Monday, 25% off all food on the grills menu on a Tuesday, two curries for £12 on a Wednesday night, £10 for selected bottles of wine on a Thursday and two steaks and a bottle of wine for £30 on a Friday.
There is also an evening set menu available every night of the week, with two courses for £9.50 and three courses for £11.50 and a Super Sunday offer.
