There's always something exciting going on at the Brewery. See what we've been up to recently.

Free pint for dad on Father's Day

Dads can enjoy a free pint and a free ride home this Father’s Day thanks to Brains and Cardiff Bus.

We will be offering a free pint to all fathers who dine at a Brains managed pubs across Wales on Sunday 18th June, including the 47 available in the Cardiff, Barry and Penarth areas served by Cardiff Bus.

The collaboration between Brains and Cardiff Bus comes as part of a way to promote safe travel for fathers on the Sunday.

Tim Lewis, PR Manager for Brains Brewery, commented: “We are rewarding all the much-loved dads in Wales with a free pint of Brains beer this Father’s Day. We’re a family-run, Cardiff-based brewery, and we’d like to give a little something back the dads of our city.

“The Cardiff Bus free travel offer is the perfect match for our promotion. It means fathers can relax, enjoy a couple of pints of Brains and not have to worry about driving ‘dad’s taxi’ for one day of the year.

“Our pubs have had an excellent response to our offer so we advise people to book their tables for Father’s Day as soon as possible.”

Fathers travelling across the city will also benefit from free journeys when accompanied by a fare-paying young person purchasing a day ticket.

This will be available across the full network of services, including Cardiff, Barry, Penarth and to/from Newport.

To ensure as many fathers as possible can take advantage, the promotion will run from the first operating service of the day to the final service on Sunday night.

Gareth Stevens, commercial manager at Cardiff Bus, said: “Many dads are celebrated for being a positive role model and also for running around after their children. We thought this would be a great way for their loved ones to return the favour by giving the bus a try.

“We truly value all our customers, and we’d like to show our appreciation by making this gesture for all fathers this coming Sunday.

“However you choose to spend the day with him, he’ll be able to travel for free. We’re hoping that as many people take advantage of this offer as possible. We always have our customers’ needs at the forefront of our minds, and as part of our commitment, family tickets are discounted on weekends and local school holidays, and cost just £5 to travel all day in Cardiff and Penarth.”

To qualify for free travel, one young person must purchase a day ticket and remain with the nominated father at all times.

The Park & Ride East service will not be included in the deal, though the free ticket will be available on all other stops on the X59 service.
